Masai people call it The Mountain of God. North east of Ngorongoro Crater, south of Lake Natron, 160 Kilometres west of Kilimanjaro and on the western edge of the rift is the Ol Doinyo Lengai. Its situated at 2960 metres altitude. To ascent this volcano is a physically demanding trek and is for people are experienced in previous trekking, this is due to the slopes being steep with tricky passages to cross, a trek of 6-7 days would be best recommended and is not for beginners. Located in Maasai territory, local guides are only allowed to accompany walkers, agencies guides are prohibited to access this mountain.
